Travels, Adventures, Comrades Part II

Happy New Year everyone!

Hope you’ve all had a chance to relax over the break and that many exciting things are in store for 2015. It was interesting to consider how much this project has helped me grow on a personal level. I remember sitting in my room last December planning to go to a gamer meetup at a bar down the street. I was so afraid of being judged and having to “prove myself” as a gamer that I couldn’t bring myself to leave the house.

After constantly reaching outside of my comfort zone and creating some real personal connections within the community, I can proudly say that I traveled to Montreal to participate in my first game jam (ie. where you join a team for a weekend to build your own game). You can read more about that experience here and you can play a simplified version of the game here.

Ever since the game jam, I’ve been going back through all the footage and am now in the process of editing the final cut of the documentary. There are so many juicy tidbits it’s hard to choose, but that’s what makes it all the more challenging and exciting. Off to the editing suite now (or more accurately my home office which includes very strong coffee, my ridiculous cats and my beloved desktop, Gandalf the White.)
